It was one of the biggest dates on the 2019 surveying calendar – the Women in Surveying Day.
In March 2019, to celebrate NSW Women’s Week, NSW Surveyor General Narelle Underwood joined then Governor of New South Wales David Hurley to celebrate women in surveying. They were joined by female secondary school students from right across the state.
The day was packed with a whole host of activities. Students took part in maths in surveying activities at the ANZAC Memorial at Hyde Park, met surveying professionals and tertiary students, and enjoyed sit down lunch and Q and A session in the afternoon. Surveying careers was a hot topic of conversation!
All in all, 14 schools attended, while 11 surveying firms were represented. Along the way, many surveyors and surveying students on hand to supply the girls with information about the profession and about studying surveying.
