If this sounds like you, why not try surveying work experience on for size?
Work experience is an important part of the secondary school learning experience, and a little sneak peek at what workplaces look like for adults.
Employers will also be impressed with applicants with surveying experience; jobs are always about your CV, and every little bit helps!
It’s also a great way to test out something without committing to it as a career path. A week in a workplace will give you a sense of some of the complexities of the job, and some of the challenges and rewards that surveyors face. Following your land surveying work experience placement, you may discover that it’s everything you want in a career – or perhaps it’s not quite for you.
Either way, you won’t know until you give it a go! To find out more and register for VIC work experience click here

A few things to remember
Depending on projects undertaken by the host firm, students may be required to hold a general construction induction “white card”, allowing access to building and construction sites. When applying for land surveying work experience placement, please remember that you will need to allow six weeks prior to your preferred dates; this is also to ensure you have sufficient time to get a white card through face-to-face training. A range of TAFE courses provide this short course training. The training ensures compliance with safety and prevention regulations in the construction industry. We suggest students speak with their career advisors to find out which nearby TAFE or other institution they recommend.
