Australian Rogaining Championships

Winners of 2012 Australian Rogaining Championships

Navigating new career paths

As a proud sponsor of the 2012 Australian Rogaining Championships, Surveying SA would like to congratulate winners and participants.

The South Australian Rogaining Association hosted the event in the Flinders Ranges. The participants navigated through the terrain with the aid of topographic maps and an analogue compass, competing for the highest score by finding checkpoints within a set time limit.

One of the participants Tyson Hillyard has taken part in rogaining events since childhood and went on to become a Surveyor because of his enjoyment of working with maps and the spatial awareness rogaining represents.

If you love rogaining, being outdoors and working with maps – you too might be interested in Surveying.
